Tokyo Itinerary

Tokyo rewards a plan: it's a set of very different neighborhoods stitched by a superb train network. This works as a 3-day first-timer loop, a 5-day deeper dive, or a full week with day trips.

Tokyo, Japan

Showing a 3-day Tokyo plan. Days 4+ appear when you extend.

Day 1Shibuya & the west
Morning
Meiji Shrine and a walk through Yoyogi Park
Afternoon
Takeshita Street in Harajuku, then the boutiques of Omotesando
Evening
Shibuya Crossing from street level, then Shibuya Sky at blue hour

Tip: Buy a Suica or Pasmo IC card at the airport — it works on every train and most shops.

Day 2Old Tokyo & the river
Morning
Senso-ji and Nakamise in Asakusa, early to beat crowds
Afternoon
teamLab Planets in Toyosu (book a timed slot)
Evening
Tokyo Skytree, then dinner in Asakusa

Tip: Book teamLab days ahead — it sells out.

Day 3Shinjuku & gardens
Morning
Shinjuku Gyoen for a calm morning
Afternoon
Free views from the Metropolitan Government Building observatory
Evening
Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai's tiny bars

Tip: Carry cash for the little bars; many don't take cards.

Make it yours

This is a starting route, not a rulebook — shift days to match your arrival, the weather and what's open. Museums often close one weekday, and the big sights are calmest at opening.
