Haneda is the airport you want for Tokyo: 20–30 minutes from the city, spotless, calm, and extremely well signed. T3 handles most international flights, with a 24-hour landside area and an observation deck. Overnight options exist but the terminal is quieter than it looks after the last train.

Domestic↔international connections require a free inter-terminal bus (10–15 min) and re-clearing security; allow two hours. Same-terminal international connections: 60–75 minutes.

Quick city run: Keikyu to Shinagawa or monorail to Hamamatsucho, an hour in the city, and back.
- 7h+
A half-day in Asakusa or Shibuya is realistic with a 2h return buffer. Coin lockers at the station solve the bag problem.
10Traveler warnings
- Last trains run around midnight; after that it's taxis or the terminal.
- Confirm whether your flight uses T2 or T3 for international — some carriers moved.
- Immigration queues at peak arrival banks (early morning) can exceed 45 minutes.

Is Haneda better than Narita for Tokyo?
For most travelers, yes — Haneda is far closer to central Tokyo and cheaper to reach. Narita can be cheaper to fly into on some routes; compare total cost including transfers.
Can I do a Tokyo layover from Haneda?
With six hours or more, yes. Budget 30 minutes for immigration, 20 minutes each way on the train, and a two-hour return buffer.
