DXB runs at full pace 24 hours a day. Terminal 3 is Emirates' fortress — huge lounges, airside Dubai International Hotel, a 24h landside metro link, and shopping on an extreme scale. It is loud, bright, and busy at 3 a.m., which makes it great for connections and poor for free sleep.

01Connections

Emirates↔Emirates: 75 min minimum (Concourse train). T1↔T3: 2h+ (landside bus). flydubai connections in T2 need 2h+.

Minimum connection times change

Airlines publish legal minimums per terminal pair; these figures are our comfortable recommendation, not the legal minimum. Verify with your airline for your specific itinerary.

02Sleep & nap options

Fair. Sleep pods (paid) in T3 concourses, Dubai International Hotel airside (T1 and T3 sections, hourly), and a few quiet-lounge areas. Free sleep is hard — bright and noisy.

  • airside transit

Dubai International Hotel (airside) — Airside in T1 and T3. Hourly and overnight rates; pool access on the T3 side.

  • near airport

Premier Inn Dubai International Airport — Free shuttle, ~10 min. Budget-friendly, reliable, shuttle to all terminals.

03Showers

Dubai International Hotel sells showers; also in Emirates lounges, Marhaba lounges and Priority Pass lounges.

04Food & coffee

Endless. Concourse B has the widest range; quality is fine, prices high.

05Wi-Fi & charging

Free, fast.

10Traveler warnings

  • Summer heat (June–September) makes outdoor sightseeing miserable in daytime.
  • Medication rules are strict — carry prescriptions.

11Frequently asked

Does Emirates give free hotels on long layovers in Dubai?

Emirates' Dubai Connect program has provided complimentary hotel stays on qualifying connections above a set duration. Eligibility rules change; check with Emirates when booking.

Can I sleep for free at DXB?

It's possible but uncomfortable — the terminal stays bright and busy all night. Paid sleep pods and the airside Dubai International Hotel are the reliable options.
